Strikers Agree to Extension with Forward Aly Alberto Hassan
Hassan finished 2012 with eight goals in all competitions for Fort Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Dec. 20, 2012) – The Fort Lauderdale Strikers and forward Aly Alberto Hassan have agreed to a contract extension through the 2014 season, the team announced today. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Hassan, 23, completed his first professional season in 2012. He finished with six goals in league plays and added two during the U.S. Open Cup. Hassan made 20 appearances for the Strikers with 13 starts. His first goal came in the same game as his first hat trick as Hassan scored three times against the Puerto Rico Islanders in a 3-2 Strikers’ victory at Lockhart Stadium on April 25, 2012.
“Aly is a young forward who we feel with another year under of experience under his belt will be a big contributor to our team,” said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore. “We are excited to have him under contract for 2013 and look forward to a Aly having a successful season.”
Hassan grew up in South Florida, attending Cypress Bay High School and Nova Southeastern University where he played four seasons. He scored 36 goals in his career at NSU, which ranks him fifth in school history. He received several honors at NSU including being named a unanimous All-Region selection by the NSCAA and Daktronics, Inc. and All-Sunshine State Conference First-Team honors.
